Ryan O. leads an active community of wine lovers around the world. Based in San Francisco, California, Winemaps is a tool for finding the best places to enjoy a glass of wine or unique experience. Ryan needed a mobile application for iOS and Android to support his business.
Winemaps App
Creating a meaningful user experience
Winemaps is a travel app built with React Native and Mapbox that includes a centralized REST API, search functionality by word, location, tag, category, and region, Mapbox for building web maps, offline mode for accessibility, geolocation for location-based features, and performant animations to improve the user experience.
The app was created from the ground up, including user flow, wireframes, design, and implementation, and it is available in both the Apple and Android app stores. The app is divided into reusable components that can be used on various screens, making it simple to maintain and update.
Main Features
Centralized REST API
Using an already built backend and consuming the REST API.
Search
We develop custom search by various entities like word, location, tag, category and Regions.
Use of Mapbox
Use use React Native Mapbox SDK to integrate with custom layers created for the application.
Offline mode
Integration of an offline mode was relevant for this project as if offers a way to explore while abroad.
Geolocation
The application uses geolocation to offer the best experiences close to them.
Performant Animations
Custom animation are embedded in the application to offer a seamless experience.
