Challenge
Meter, a startup from San Francisco, provides internet infrastructure for businesses. Our software development team built an end-to-end solution, starting with the MVP and ending with the final product. Developing three distinct admin panels for clients, sales teams, and hardware installation technicians was a complex task that demanded a user-centric approach. We were determined to build user-friendly interfaces that catered to each area's unique requirements.

Control Panel for Technical Support
Our team utilize this control panel as a primary tool to upload maps of each floor in the buildings they are working on. From these maps, they can activate physical devices, position them, and configure their settings. This allows them to determine whether the devices are functioning correctly and understand their current status from any location. Given that most of the technicians operate with tablets, the interface for adding clients, setting up office locations, or configuring the devices was developed and designed to be fast and intuitive to use.
Network Operation Center (NOC)
NOC is a control panel where it's possible to visualize all the data that the physical devices can provide. This facilitates improved customer service by enabling capabilities such as viewing whether the devices are active, resetting passwords, tracking network metrics and data, and managing incidents for the technicians.
Control Panel for Clients
Through this panel, clients who have installed Meter devices gain access to view the passwords for each device, connect external devices via QR code, see who is connected to their devices, and connect or disconnect each one. Clients can manage their devices for each office or floor through their user profile. They can activate and deactivate them remotely, providing ultimate control and flexibility.
Technology
For the development of each of these panels, we initially worked on a library of visual components, using Storybook, ReactJS, and Tailwind. We utilized Sentry to monitor errors and quickly rectify them, in addition to AWS services and Ruby on Rails.
Project Scope
Interactive FloorPlan Mapping
We executed the design and management of a dynamic, interactive floor plan system. This system enabled efficient installation and remote control of IoT devices in diverse environments, such as physical office spaces, life sciences facilities, flex spaces, warehouses, and smart buildings. The feature allows technicians to upload floor maps, position and configure devices, and monitor their real-time status from any location.
Metrics Dashboard
Our cloud-based software solution includes a metrics dashboard, providing key usage data and insights. This user behavior analytics tool helps in swiftly detecting anomalies and addressing them, thereby enhancing network performance and stability.
Enhanced Customer Support
We developed a Network Operation Center (NOC) control panel, which facilitates customer service by visualizing real-time IoT data analytics. This enables our customer support representatives to track device activity, reset passwords, and monitor network metrics, thereby improving service delivery and user experience.
Device Monitoring and Network Management
We've designed a real-time device monitoring dashboards to offer a panoramic view of the entire network's performance, reviewing crucial aspects such as speed, usage, and security. These dashboards serve as an essential tool in monitoring device statuses, allowing our technicians to ensure optimal network performance. The rich data provided by these dashboards enhances the ability to preempt potential issues and resolve them effectively, promoting network stability and efficient operation.
Next-Generation Encryption
To guarantee secure data communication between the hardware, devices on the network, and the dashboard, we incorporated next-generation encryption standards. By using Transport Layer Security (TLS) and the latest Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) standards, we've fortified the security of our networking solution.
User Management
We've also designed the system to handle user permissions seamlessly. This ensures that only authorized personnel have the necessary access, enhancing security and enabling efficient user management.
